ABORTION IN BERLIN

Do you live in Poland and need an abortion? Ciocia Basia will help you arrange a safe and legal abortion in Berlin efficiently and free of charge.

In Germany, abortion on demand (i.e., regardless of the reason for terminating the pregnancy) is permitted until the end of the 14th week of pregnancy, counting from the first day of your last menstrual period.

The methods of abortion available in Germany are: pharmacological abortion (pills), performed up to the end of the 9th week of pregnancy, and surgical abortion, i.e., vacuum aspiration.

In each case, regardless of the method chosen, you must have a consultation with a social worker at least 3 days before the procedure – this is a legal requirement, without which you will not have access to abortion in Germany. The consultation is confidential and aims to ensure that you are making the decision yourself and that you are not being pressured (unfortunately, this sometimes happens). You can ask any questions you may have about the procedure.

First contact

During your first contact, by email or phone, let us know what your situation is:

When was the first day of your last period?

You don't need to give your name, a nickname is enough. Our help is free of charge.

Abortion Consult

After receiving basic information from you, we will provide you with the email address of a social worker who will conduct the consult as a telephone conversation with you in Polish, or direct you to an organisation, which employs people speaking many other languages. The date of the consult will be set by the social worker. The consult is mandatory and free of charge for anyone planning an abortion. Confirmation of the consult will be required at the clinic performing the abortion.

Please contact us immediately after the consult so that we can arrange an appointment for you at the clinic promptly.

We will ask you a few questions. We only collect the necessary information, which is deleted after you leave Berlin.

Clinic

We work with selected clinics and qualified medical professionals in Berlin.

These are proven gynaecologists who specialize in performing safe abortions using both pharmacological and vacuum methods.

Immediately after making an appointment, we will email you the name and address of the clinic you will visit in Berlin.

If you speak Polish, Ukrainian or Russian, but not German or English, we will provide you with an interpreter from our collective or from a group of volunteers who work with us, or arrange the visit in a clinic which employs people who know your language. This person will accompany you throughout your stay at the clinic.

Organizational matters

You arrange your own travel to Berlin. It is worth knowing your blood type.

The abortion procedure requires two visits to the clinic. The first visit is for an interview and gynaecological examination.

You can stay overnight with one of us or one of our trusted volunteers. You can come with someone or on your own.

You pay for the abortion directly at the clinic.

On the second day, the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, after which you can go home. Please note that you cannot drive after the procedure.
